# Guided tour of the interface

Depending on the user's profile, certain menus and content may differ, but the interface logic remains the same.

The GLPI interface is composed of different areas grouping the application's functionalities according to their nature.

## Changing Profile and/or Interface

From the user menu, it is possible to perform several actions such as changing the entity or profile, modifying the display language, etc.

### 1. Changing Profile

To change profile, simply click on the current profile and select the one that suits you. If the selected profile is not available in the current entity, the entity will then be automatically changed.

If a new profile has just been applied, you will need to log out and log back in to see it appear.
{% endhint %}

### 2. Changing Entity

To change entity, select the desired entity from the list. If the profile you are logged in with is not available in the desired entity, the profile associated with that entity will be applied.

{% hint style="info" %} <i class="fa-chevrons-down">:chevrons-down:</i> allows access to the entity and all its child entities.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.glpi-project.org/documentation/12-en/welcome-to-glpi-12/guided-tour-of-the-interface.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
