# Helpdesk portal

The Helpdesk portal serves as the hub for users with a self-service profile. It streamlines communication and centralizes all IT and logistics-related processes.

### What is the purpose of this portal?

From this self-service area, you can—in just a few clicks:

**Report an incident**: Flag a technical issue (computer failure, printing problem, software bug) and track the progress of its resolution in real time.

**Submit a service request**: Order equipment, request access to software, or ask for assistance.

**Consult the Knowledge Base**: Access practical guides, tutorials, and answers to frequently asked questions to resolve issues independently.

**Reserve resources**: Book loaner equipment (vehicles, projectors, laptops) as needed.

You can customize this space to suit your specific needs and thereby enhance the user experience.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.glpi-project.org/glpi-12/welcome-to-glpi-12/helpdesk-portal.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
